Ramadan Kareem everyone!
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and it is celebrated by all Muslims around the world. It is considered the holiest month of the Islamic faith.
During the month of Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food and water, most importantly sinful behavior from sunrise to sunset. During this time and even after Ramadan ends, it is encouraged that Muslims should reflect spiritually, self-evaluate and increase their devotion to God. The main purpose of fasting during Ramadan is to purify the soul, practice self-discipline and develop empathy towards those who are less fortunate.
The meal eaten at sunrise is knows as “Suhoor” and the meal eaten at Sunset is known as “Iftar”. The month of Ramadan ends with the celebration of a festival named “Eid al Fitr”.
On a lighter note, Ramadan is known for its time of reflection and spirituality, but it is also known for a time of giving and sharing. Hence we have put together a list of thoughtful and appropriate gift ideas which could be used to exchange with family and friends that will strengthen bonds too.
